What is a MAJOR PAIN POINT I see over & over?⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ Often clients love their homes but just don't love the builder basic look and want to have their homes reflect their personality. So how can this be addressed?⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ 1. Play with striking ways to add color to your home. You can do this with paint or even fabrics (think pillows, bedding, even decor). This can be an accent wall or an entire room and if you don't like it, you just need to re-paint.⁠⁠ 2. Take what you already have around your home and re-arrange it, and I mean take it all down and this is also a good time to edit out what isn't working anymore (let's face it, sometimes our tastes change). Now create a collection with items and don't be afraid to leave a wall blank, trust me, it looks better than having something on every wall. Once this part is done, you may have space for a new piece you've been eyeing! ⁠⁠ 3. Always take design risks! Some of the biggest advances started with someone saying 'why do we do it this way?' When I'm working with my clients and it doesn't matter if it's actual construction or decor, I often hear 'I didn't think of that.' You may find in this whole process and just by these 3 things, your home has already started to transform into one that you now love.⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ Oh and the picture you see is from my own dining table edit. I found a gorgeous stone container at market & played with contrast using the greenery & white stone. Then the gold antlers introduce texture and create a sort of yin and yang that makes asian influence so interesting. If you have a guest room in your home, it's import If you have a guest room in your home, it's important that it not just have a bed & lighting, it should also have a personality & it's a great opportunity to carry style where your guests stay. This makes a guest feel welcome & comfortable, but it also makes you feel like your home is done, because it actually is. A completed guest room is simply a nice way to say 'welcome, we're glad you're here.'⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ While this client's overall design is clean lines with a bit of skandinavian thrown in, it's all about comfort & making her guests & family feel like they are welcome & at home. Guests even have a gorgeous view of the lake, hills & pool right from their bedroom. ❤️❤️❤️⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ While I didn't want to clutter the space (remember clean lines), the goal was to streamline so I designed a custom shelf above the bed where decor could change by the seasons without marring up the walls. I knew I wanted pendants but the best way to get them in was to make them go through the shelf above the bed. I find most design for me originates from asking " I find most design for me originates from asking "why is it like this (design, style, function, etc.)?" From there, I likely change the how 😉 ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ That's where this idea came from that you see, my clients jack & jill bathroom had a closet with a door to the linen closet BUT if you wanted to open the door, it pushed you into the bathtub on the other wall. Makes no sense at all. ⁠⠀ What I decided to do because well, it was needed & 2. because she loves barn doors too, is to make a custom barn door that only left 1/2 of the storage exposed. This allowed it to remain somewhat hidden and the open part we could utilize pretty baskets for necessary items. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I can literally take apart an entire house with my design logic and I have: mine and my clients but you know what? We both love it. Those little details make the home so much more functional & beautiful.
